Sergi Bastardas, alongside co-founders Nacho Travesí and Antonio Melé, launched Orbio in 2025 to address the lack of efficient infrastructure for managing frontline staff. The platform deploys specialized AI agents—named Maria, Daniel, and Claire—to handle end-to-end personnel cycles, from initial interviews and fit assessment to monitoring output and conducting check-ins. By automating these processes, the software aims to replace fragmented legacy systems that still rely on manual spreadsheets and phone calls.
Major clients, including YUM! Brands and Poke, have transitioned from pilot programs to full-scale deployments. According to Bastardas, the interconnected nature of these AI agents allows data from onboarding to refine future recruitment and retention strategies. With total funding now reaching $26 million, including support from Visionaries and 2100 Ventures, the company plans to use the new capital to expand its roster of AI agents. Bastardas positions the platform as a significant evolution for the 2.7 billion people in healthcare, retail, and hospitality who historically lacked access to digital workforce management tools.
