Cerebras CEO envisions local AI hardware for the home

A dedicated security perimeter for personal artificial intelligence is not a distant prospect, according to Cerebras Systems co-founder Andrew Feldman. Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, the executive predicted a shift toward local AI appliances that function similarly to smartphones, balancing on-device processing with cloud connectivity to manage personal tasks securely.

Feldman envisions these future assistants gaining deep familiarity with their users, eventually handling sensitive functions like financial transactions. He draws parallels to emerging consumer agents such as Meta’s Muse and the startup Instinct, which currently holds a $10 billion valuation. For Feldman, the transition moves beyond simple automation; he expects these systems to create entirely new capabilities that were previously impossible for individual users to execute.

While Cerebras stands to benefit from the hardware demand such a shift would trigger, Feldman maintains a focus on the underlying infrastructure. He currently utilizes a personal suite of agents to manage his calendar and research call participants, yet he prefers to leave the development of consumer-facing applications to other founders. By positioning his company as a platform builder, he aims to provide the computational foundation upon which these future home AI appliances will depend.
