Amazon brings bedtime automation to Echo speakers

Amazon is turning Echo and Echo Kids smart speakers into automated bedtime companions with the launch of Sleep Studio. The new feature integrates guided meditations, lullabies, and ambient soundscapes designed to ease the nightly transition for children while simplifying the routine for parents through centralized scheduling tools.

The service is included for subscribers of the $5.99 monthly Amazon Kids Plus plan. Parents manage the experience via the Amazon Kids Parent Dashboard, where they can define specific sleep windows and curate playlists. To automate the process, a thirty-minute wind-down routine initiates automatically before the scheduled bedtime, though children retain manual control by prompting the device with the command, “Alexa, play Sleep Studio.”

Hardware integration extends to the Echo Glow, which functions as a night light that uses color-coded cues to visually signal when it is time to sleep or wake up. The content library features contributions from established wellness platforms including Headspace, Moshi, and Calm. Fergal Walker, vice president of partnerships at Calm, noted that the library aims to support a healthy, rested mind through its variety of lullabies and sleep stories.
