The upgraded assistant, rebranded as Siri AI, moves beyond simple command execution to support fluid, back-and-forth conversations. Mike Rockwell, head of Apple AI, emphasized that the system now possesses onscreen awareness, allowing it to pull relevant data directly from open applications to answer user queries. Alongside these capabilities, Apple is launching a dedicated Siri AI app to track conversation history, which will be accessible across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro hardware.
Integration into iOS 27 brings further interface changes, including a new activation method where users swipe down from the Dynamic Island. The camera app also gains a specific Siri Mode capable of identifying objects within the viewfinder in real time. Beyond these AI-centric shifts, the update introduces a new opacity slider for the company’s Liquid Glass design, marking a subtle but functional change to the current interface aesthetic.
