Kenno Appoints Chris Hunt as CIO to Capitalize on Vietnam Market Shift

Vietnam’s recent reclassification to Secondary Emerging Market status by FTSE Russell has triggered a strategic expansion at Singapore-based Kenno. The firm has appointed veteran analyst Chris Hunt as its chief investment officer, tasking him with leveraging three decades of regional research experience to attract a broader international investor base.

Kenno Appoints Chris Hunt as CIO to Capitalize on Vietnam Market Shift

Hunt brings a extensive track record in Asian equity markets, having previously led regional research teams for Macquarie, CIMB, and HSBC. His transition from his most recent role as head of research for HSC Securities in Ho Chi Minh City positions him to bridge the gap between local market nuances and global capital expectations. CEO Mikael Nastamo noted that Hunt’s deep understanding of the Vietnamese landscape will be central to the firm’s growth as the country’s index inclusion phases in through September 2027.

This leadership change arrives as Vietnam captures heightened attention from global financial institutions. Beyond asset management, development financiers like Finnfund and major banking entities including Citigroup and HSBC are scaling their footprints in the country. Kenno, which has operated in the sector since 2015, aims to capture the interest of professional investors in Europe and Asia who are increasingly drawn to the nation's rising affluent middle class and structural economic evolution.
