The atmosphere at this year’s keynote signaled a shift toward accountability. Rather than showcasing speculative tech, Apple focused on finalizing long-promised updates, including an overhauled Siri and improvements to its search and Playground tools. The presentation featured demonstrators actively manipulating phones to trigger real-time responses, a deliberate contrast to the 2024 launch where slick promotional videos were later criticized as vaporware.
This tactical pivot follows a federal lawsuit alleging false advertising regarding the capabilities of Apple Intelligence. After promising features for the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, the company admitted in March 2025 that development was lagging, leading to a $250 million settlement. By showing these tools operating on actual devices, Apple sought to restore its reputation for reliability.
Furthermore, the company is avoiding aggressive upgrade cycles. The new Siri will be compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models running iOS 27. This broad support extends to the iPad mini, MacBook Neo, and Apple Vision Pro, effectively honoring the performance promises the company struggled to meet two years ago. Users with older hardware now gain access to the suite without the forced obsolescence that previously characterized Apple’s feature rollouts.
