Windows 11 Photos App Now Aggregates iCloud and OneDrive Galleries

To activate the integrated view, users must enable Camera Backup within the OneDrive mobile app and complete the iCloud for Windows configuration. Once linked, the Photos interface allows for centralized browsing by date, sophisticated people-based searching, and album management. Files remain accessible offline, ensuring that the library stays functional even without an active internet connection.

The underlying editor has been rebuilt to prioritize speed and format flexibility. It now launches 25 percent faster, with tools streamlined into four distinct categories: Crop, Enhance, Repair, and Stylize. Crucially, the software now maintains HDR quality during edits and supports native saving for HEIC and WebP files without requiring format conversion. Performance improvements extend to the viewer as well, which opens HEIC images 30 percent faster than previous versions and adds support for SVG file types.
