To qualify for the new program, creators must maintain a baseline of 500 verified followers alongside 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over a rolling 90-day window. Payouts will be calculated based on qualified impressions—unique views from Premium subscribers where at least half of the post is visible on the feed. The company explicitly excludes repurposed content or simple replies from the monetization pool, targeting users who previously exploited system loopholes for quick clicks.
Allegra Jacchia, Senior Product Manager for Creators at X, noted that the change is intended to prioritize expertise and unique perspectives over algorithmic gaming. While the definition of “original content” remains somewhat fluid, the company clarifies that reactions and commentary will only count if they provide meaningful contribution. Participants currently enrolled in the legacy model will continue to accrue revenue through September 7 before the transition takes full effect.
